Art can change hearts and minds

This is a challenging time for Muslims.

We can say that things have changed, but the need for change continues to power us.

Yes, there has been a lot of change. The narrative, however, needs to be shifted further.

In a community that faces discrimination and hate, we must unite within first. Despite ideological rifts, this group is about what we share in interests.

Art can bring us together. Art can mend our rifts. Because in this Society, we don’t preach or discuss religious viewpoints. Our goal is to join together and use art as a changing force to reshape the narrative that surrounds us.

Art is powerful. A painting can illicit emotion. A television show can make its viewers empathize with the characters. Media can change the way an entire population is perceived.

Let’s work together to reshape the narrative. Let’s put aside OUR differences and come together with a common goal– to forge the binds of sisterhood, support one and other, and change the hearts and minds of others using our art.
